Reality

Answer a call that will bring a smile

Slight pitch of tone raise hackles in alarm

Throat is gripped by external force

Pain shoots the heart so fierce

Gone from where you stand

Now living in a world so hostile

Panic simmers just beneath the skin

Can not believe what could lie ahead

Your fathers God now becomes your own

Desperate and helpless to stop any harm

Imagined endings run past your eyes

Can not bear a loss so great

Silent phone still in hand

Wait becomes an eternal dread

The lifeline in your palm lights up

Words so sweet release your breath

Today…..there shall be no death
