Garden Spiders

The Yellow Garden Spider is one of the most beautiful arachnids you will find in the back yard. I am not a fan per se of the spider if it enters my personal space but this one is always welcome.  These spiders produce venom that is harmless to humans. They have very unique webs to identify what type of spider spun the web. For more information and facts about this species please click on link

I shared a picture of this beauty with my daughter that is enrolled in veterinarian school. This was her educated response to me: “The coloration on the spider is called aposematic coloration. It’s a warning or defense color to warn predators.” My Anna is doing what she was born to do. Since before able to speak in full sentences she would find insects, reptiles and animals to show me with such excitement and intense interest. I can not pass a creature, small or big or venomous or not, without snapping a picture and sending it to her. I have become the little girl she was to me (bug related)
