Who knew…

Small and meek

Sturdy and strong

Hardly ever seen

Never given a thought

To dally is unknown

Hustle and bustle

Offspring is life work

Without thought to self

Always productive

Alert to all dangers

Sheltering under debris

Endearing twitchy nose

Roaming the nights

Continuous search for prey

Poisonous bite on first strike

The adorable Northern Short-Tailed Shrew

…who knew

This must be the week of new nature facts for me, I learned another interesting tidbit by chance. A shrew is just a common unassuming animal in the world you hear about once in a while.
