Drooling Dogs

life dogs (28)Never have I claimed to be a dog person, in fact I emphasize the opposite. I complain when they get their drool or wet noses on me. I get irritated when they don’t come the second you call them or eat something horrendously gross after you just bought a 50 dollar bag of dog food. I scold at the kids for letting them up on the furniture and getting dog hair on everything.  All these things are true except one; being a dog person.

As far back as I can remember to present day there have always been dogs in my life. I didn’t realize until recently just how much they are embedded into my life. Every childhood memory involves a dog my sisters and I loved. The first date with my husband involved the puppy that would help to raise our children for sixteen years.  My daughters have their own dogs now, some would even say collecting them, my sisters have multiple dogs with their children. Most all of our friends and other family have dogs. My Rexy boy is laying next to me as I type these words.

I’ve seen dogs react to human emotions. Sadness, anger, laughter, hurting….especially the kind you can’t see. They protect what they love. They don’t judge. They don’t betray. They help to heal a wounded soul. They recognize evil the same as they do a pure soul. Just like a child, you can starve or nourish them with the amount of love or hate you show them. The world is wonderful place because dogs are part of our every day lives whether you own a dog or not.

Enjoy these pictures of a few dogs I have loved and some that are still drooling on my jeans or getting hair on my couch.
