A Perfect Family

IMG_3648Have you ever seen a family and thought “If only or I wish……they get along so good or they are so happy”.  The perfect family is just an illusion. There is no such thing. If you are a family that loves then you are a family that fights or hurts. A family is comprised of different personalities living under the same roof. Sharing the same things, eating together, sleeping together, going to family functions with the same people year after year, while the whole time you are growing and maturing into individuals that go out into the world and bring home new players to the game.

All families have the strong and dominant personalities living along side the soft and easy going. The extrovert and the introvert. The nice and the mean. The conservative and the rebellious. The selfish and the giving. The smart and the challenged. These are the people that make up families so if you think for a second that there is a perfect family living out there somewhere with no problems or without some type of dysfunction, well I am here to tell you  “It is an Illusion, doesn’t exist. It feels nice to believe but its not real.”

Being part of family that is diverse but never has any issues would scare the hell out of me I think. No difference of opinions. No difference in likes. No difference in choices of any kind. That is not a family, that is a boring and predictable parity.

per·fect: adjective having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be. ideal, model, without fault, faultless, consummate, quintessential, exemplary, best, ultimate

dif·fer·ence: noun a point or way in which people or things are not the same. dissimilarity, contrast, distinction, differentiation,  variancevariationdivergence, disparity, deviation, polarity, imbalance, contradiction, contradistinction

By definition you can not have perfect with difference.
The Irony of it all is without difference you can not have perfection.
A family is the perfection of life at its best, preparing us to live in a world full of difference searching for the perfect life……Mind blowing right!?
All families have struggles, hurdles, devastation, betrayal, pain, confusion, misunderstandings and hurt that run right along side of love, laughter, hugs, understanding, compassion, acceptance and forgiveness.
IF YOU COME FROM AN IMPERFECT FAMILY THEN YOU COME FROM A FAMILY OF PERFECTION.
