Beaver Dam Road

I found this picture on the web as we did not get to see the actual beavers that created the dam I photographed.

While exploring an area up north, we came across a dam beavers had built along side a logging road. These creatures are just so amazing. What Beavers instinctively contribute as their part in natures giant circle of life is nothing short of construction genius, however, it can also be very destructive. Often times they destroy trees and property belonging to land owners. Although beavers play an important role in the ecosystem, they can also cause problems that are sometimes more than a nuisance. Beaver dams can actually cause flooding. They can be humanely trapped and removed, although more beavers often move in. They are relentless and never tire in the pursuit of building dams to create homes for themselves. Beavers build their dams to create a pond of deep, quiet water, where they can build their home or lodge. The dam slows down the flow of the river, so that the beavers’ home does not wash away.

Our grandson has inherited the (obsessive) fishing gene so naturally we had to stop so he could see what was biting.
